Abstract: The all-germanium adamantane (Me$_3$SiGe)$_4$(GeMe$_2$)$_6$ (2) was synthesized from its isomer (Me$_3$GeSi)$_4$(GeMe$_2$)$_6$ (1) via sila-Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement (overall four steps starting from commercial Me$_2$GeCl$_2$, Si$_2$Cl$_6$, and [nBu$_4$N]Cl). The molecular structures of 1 and 2 were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction; a plausible mechanistic scenario is postulated based on quantum-chemical calculations.
