iSAS Second Annual Meeting, BerlinBerlin, Germany, 22 Apr 2026 - 24 Apr 20262026-04-222026-04-24  GO

Abstract: The European hard X-ray Free-Electron Laser (EuXFEL) has been successfully operating for almost a decade. 2025 saw the first long shutdown and warmup since the project cooldown, known as the Long Installation and Maintenance Period (LIMP). The project is currently investigating opportunities to operate more sustainably while maintaining performance for the users. Research effort has been put towards investigating operation at higher external Q values, leading to a need for more in-depth investigation of microphonics and noise performance of the superconducting cavity environment in the tunnel. The long shutdown has allowed for a general investigation of the tunnel noise characteristics without the effect of the highly pulsed subsystems operating.
