Abstract: New challenges and demands imposed on fast orbit feedback (FOFB) systems for the 4$^{th}$-generation light sources are discussed. Emerging trends in disturbance mitigation and monitoring, subsystem modelling and design improvements, as well as the application of advanced electronics for latency-optimised performance, are summarised.
