Straight to the Future - Physics Program and Status of the International Linear Collider
International Conferences on the Physics of the Two Infinities, KyotoKyoto, Japan, 27 Mar 2023 - 30 Mar 20232023-03-272023-03-30  GO
Ever since its discovery at the LHC in 2012, the Higgs boson is regarded as a messenger from yet charted realms of particle physics, beyond the so-called Standard Model. It is thus expected to play a unique role in understanding many open questions about our universe - from the electroweak phase transition and its relation to baryogenesis to the nature of dark matter and the origin of the mass and flavour hierarchy among quarks and leptons. Higgs self-coupling measurements at the FCC-hh
European Physical Society Conference on High Energy Physics, EPS-HEP2023, University of HamburgHamburg, University of Hamburg, Germany, 20 Aug 2023 - 25 Aug 20232023-08-202023-08-25  GO
The hadron collider phase of the Future Circular Collider (FCC-hh) is a proton-proton collider operating at a center-of-mass energy of 100 TeV. It is one of the most ambitious projects planned for the rest of this century and offers ample opportunities in the hunt for new physics, both through its direct detection reach as well as through indirect evidence from precision measurements.Extracting a precision measurement of the Higgs self-coupling from the Higgs pair production cross-section will play a key role in our understanding of electroweak symmetry breaking, as the self-coupling gives insight into the nature of the Higgs potential. Interactive VRS-NeRF: Lightning fast Neural Radiance Field Rendering for Virtual Reality
SUI '23: ACM Symposium on Spatial User Interaction, Sydney NSW AustraliaSydney NSW Australia, Australia, 14 Oct 2023 - 15 Oct 20232023-10-142023-10-15 [10.1145/3607822.3618020]  GO
In this demo, we build upon VRS-NeRF to provide an implementation for real-time variable rate shading (VRS) in virtual reality (VR). Here, we demo a recent advancement of Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) merging multiple pixels into one reducing the overall rendering time. [...]

Sub-TW laser pulses via post-compression of 9 mJ, 1.2 picosecond laser pulses to 13 fs
High-power, High-energy Lasers and Ultrafast Optical Technologies, PraguePrague, Czech Republic, 24 Apr 2023 - 28 Apr 20232023-04-242023-04-28 [10.1117/12.2669587]  GO
In this work we report experimental compression of 9.4 mJ, 9.4 W, and 1.2 picosecond long pulses down to 7 mJ, 13 fs at 1 kHz in two cascaded stages with gas filled multi-pass cells (MPCs). The output from the first, argon filled MPC is compressed to <50 fs. [...]

Prototype of a Cherenkov detector for the LUXE Experiment
DPG-Frühjahrstagung, DESY / Universität HamburgDresden, DESY / Universität Hamburg, Germany, 20 Mar 2023 - 24 Mar 20232023-03-202023-03-24  GO
The aim of LUXE (Laser Und XFEL Experiment based at DESY, Hamburg) is to measure strong-field QED effects with high precision. In order to create electric fields stronger than the so-called Schwinger limit, it is planned to collide a high-intensity laser pulse with either high-energy electrons up to $16.5\,\mathrm{GeV}$ or high-energy photons. These two configurations either result in non-linear Compton scattering or Breit-Wheeler interactions which can be studied by measuring rates and kinematics of secondary particles created at the interaction point like high-energy electrons, positrons and photons. For the detection of electrons, with expected fluxes of the order of $10^4$ to $10^9$ particles in an area of $15\,\mathrm{cm}\times1\,\mathrm{mm}$ per event, a Cherenkov detector in combination with magnetic deflection for high-precision spectrometry will be used. This contribution will present the simulation-based design of the Cherenkov detector, as well as first operation experience obtained with a prototype.
