Construction of a Tunable Laser for use in Grating Compressor Alignment

Abstract: Aligning the gratings of an optical compressor for femtosecond pulses, as used inchirped pulse amplification, is a nontrivial task. In order to simplify this task a portabletunable continuous-wave laser, with automated wavelength tuning, was designed, constructedand automated. This thesis aims to explain the construction and automationof wavelength tuning, using Python, of this tunable laser system. It also discusses the useof this system in the alignment of optical compressor gratings.
