Abstract: We present the progress in tuning automation of the PETRAinjection complex. The OCELOT optimizer has beenported to the PETRA control system and proof-of-principletests of transmission efficiency optimization done. We furtherargue that the next steps in tuning and automation areimpossible without rethinking the architecture of the highlevel control system. A possible approach to the new systemis then sketched.
