Abstract: Excesses with respect to models of the Galactic diffuse emission in gamma-ray flux have been found around a few GeV at the position of the Galactic Centre (GC) and M31. The underlying physics causing the excesses in flux could be the same but the question remains, if it is due to astrophysical processes, such as Millisecond Pulsars (MSPs), or annihilation of Dark Matter (DM). This talk was given at the 13th Patras Workshop on Axions, WIMPs and WISPs and is an overview of two Fermi-LAT publications focused on studying and understanding the cause of the excesses, one targeting the GC and one targeting mainly M31.
