Abstract: The results obtained by RHIC and LHC experiments in the study of nucleus-nucleus collisions shed light on the behaviour of the hot and dense matter produced in heavy ion interactions at high energy. The recent p-Pb run at the LHC added another piece of information, showing p-nucleus interactions provide interesting and unexpected features. The most recent results, the open questions and the perspectives will be discussed.
