Abstract: The LHC Phase II upgrade (HL-LHC) will provide considerable increases ininstantaneous and integrated luminosities, leading to a total of3000~fb$^{-1}$ by around 2035. This data will allow precisionmeasurements of Higgs properties and vector boson scattering processes, and willprovide substantially higher sensitivity to searches for newphysics. Various subdetectors of CMS will need to be upgraded in orderto operate efficiently in such a high rate and high radiationenvironment. CMS will receive new tracking detectors and new forwardinstrumentation for calorimetry and muon tagging along with anincrease in the capability of the online trigger and data acquisitionsystem. The CMS Phase II upgrade program and the expected performanceof the replacement detectors will be reviewed.
