Abstract: The European XFEL is presently being constructed inthe Hamburg region, Germany. It aims at producing X-raysin the range from 260 eV up to 24 keV out of three undulatorsthat can be operated simultaneously with up to27000 pulses/second. The FEL is driven by a 17.5 GeVlinear accelerator based on TESLA-type superconductingaccelerator modules. This paper presents the status of majorcomponents, the project schedule and a summary of beamparameters that are adapted to the evolving needs of theusers.
