Report No.: ATLAS-CONF-2013-082
Abstract: The performance of the missing transverse momentum reconstruction in the ATLASdetector is evaluated using data collected in 2012 in proton-proton collisions at a centre-ofmassenergy of 8 TeV. An optimised reconstruction and calibration of the missing transversemomentum is used and the effects arising from additional proton-proton interactionssuperimposed on the hard physics process are suppressed with various methods. Results areshown for a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 20 fb1 and forevents with different topologies with or without genuine missing transverse momentum dueto undetected particles. Estimates of the systematic uncertainty on the missing transversemomentum measurement are also presented.
