Abstract: This talk reviews the various SM direct photon measurements made by both the ATLAS and CMS collaborations and discusses their usefulness in terms of providing tests of the SM for a wide pT range, helping constrain the gluon parton distributions functions and serving to validate photon performance aspects for some of the major discovery analyses, such as Higgs to gamma gamma. The main results presented consist of differential cross section measurements for inclusive photon, photon-jet and photon-photon processess.
