Data-Driven Fault Localization in Cyber-Physical Systems Using Dependency Graphs and Anomaly Detection
Information Modelling and Knowledge Bases XXXVI / Kiyoki, Yasushi (Editor) ; : IOS Press, , ; ISSN: 09226389=18798314 ; ISBN: 9781643685724 ; doi:10.3233/FAIA241577 Amsterdam : IOS Press, Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications 128-145 () [10.3233/FAIA241577]  GO
The early and automatic detection of faulty behavior is essential for maintaining the reliability of a cyber-physical system. In this paper we describe a fault localization approach for such a highly complex distributed system, the optical synchronization system of the European X-ray free-electron laser. [...]

Impact of seismic activities on the optical synchronization system of the European X-ray Free-Electron Laser
This study investigates the influence of seismic activities on the optical synchronization system of the European X-ray Free-Electron Laser. We analyze the controller input/output data of phase-locked loops in length-stabilized links, focusing on the response to earthquakes, ocean-generated microseism and civilization noise. [...]

Demonstration of full-scale spatiotemporal diagnostics of solid-density plasmas driven by an ultra-short relativistic laser pulse using an X-ray free-electron laser
Understanding the complex plasma dynamics in ultra-intense relativistic laser–solid interactions is of fundamental importance for applications of laser–plasma-based particle accelerators, the creation of high-energy-density matter, understanding planetary science, and laser-driven fusion energy. However, experimental efforts in this regime have been limited by the lack of accessibility of over-critical densities and the poor spatiotemporal resolution of conventional diagnostics. [...]

Femtosecond laser-induced optical breakdown and cavitation dynamics in water imaged with an x-ray free-electron laser
We investigate the ultrafast dynamics of plasma formation by optical breakdown, filamentation, and cavitation in water, using high spatiotemporal resolution offered by x-ray free-electron laser (XFEL) radiation. A femtosecond infrared laser pulse is focused in a water-filled cuvette and probed by a single femtosecond x-ray pulse, with a time delay covering nearly four orders of magnitude. [...]

Ultrafast laser systems critically depend on optical thin film coatings to control dispersion and light propagation, enabling precise shaping of light. Optical thin film coating design represents a complex inverse problem traditionally relying on computationally intensive numerical optimization methods. [...]
