QCD in the LHC Era: Precision Measurements and Searches

2014

DPG-Frühjahrstagung des Fachverbands Teilchenphysik, DPG 2014, MainzMainz, Germany, 24 Mar 2014 - 28 Mar 20142014-03-242014-03-28  GO

Abstract: Designed for the discovery of the Higgs boson and physics beyond the Standard Model, the LHC is a QCD machine operating in an energy regime, in which the experiments are confronted with unprecedented rates of events with multiple jets and vector bosons, as well as top quarks. Successful running of the LHC at collision energies of 7 and 8 TeV allowed for a wealth of precision tests of the QCD and for significant improvement of the exclusion limits on various exotic processes. The highlights of the results obtained by the two multipurpose experiments, ATLAS and CMS, are reviewed with the main emphasis on the precise QCD-related measurements putting into evidence their relevance for the advancement in the understanding of proton-proton collisions phenomenology.
