Axion Physics and Detection

2026

31st International Symposium on Particles, Strings, and Cosmology, PASCOS 2026, University of SheffieldSheffield, University of Sheffield, UK, 22 Jun 2026 - 26 Jun 20262026-06-222026-06-26  GO

Abstract: We review the motivation for the axion as a solution of the strongCP puzzle. We discuss benchmark axion models and present their predictions concerning(i) axion couplings to the Standard Model and (ii) axion dark matter abundance. We give an overview on the discovery potential of current and plannedaxion experiments, reaching from direct production and detectionof axions in the laboratory, over searches for solar axions,to axion dark matter direct detection.
