      abstract     = {Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY (hereinafter:
‘DESY’) is one of the world's leading research centres
in particle physics, astroparticle physics, physics with
photons and accelerator physics. The large quantities of
data generated in these fields of research place high
demands on their careful handling and storage. DESY has
taken on these challenges responsibly since its foundation
in 1959.DESY assumes responsibility for ensuring that the
knowledge generated in its research can be used by society
in the long term and is committed to the principles of open
handling of knowledge, research findings and technologies.
In principle, all research data obtained at DESY should be
subject to the FAIR principles (‘Findable’,
                      ‘Accessible’, “Interoperable”, ‘Re-
Usable’).This Framework Guideline for Research Data
Management at DESY is based on the ‘Recommendations for
Framework Guidelines of the Helmholtz Centres for Handling
Research Data , adopted by the Helmholtz General Assembly,
as well as the DFG Guidelines for Safeguarding Good
Scientific Practice and is in line with the Helmholtz Open
Science Guideline .Researchers will benefit from the
implementation of these policy points by gaining more
opportunities to reuse research data (both internally and
externally), increasing the visibility of their research and
                      safeguarding the scientific process.},
