520 _ _ |a The computing and software project in ATLAS exists to enable the Collaboration to fully exploit the LHC physics programme, while respecting the budgetary constraints associated with computing. This Conceptual Design Report summarises the current approaches being taken and plans being developed within ATLAS to meet the challenges of the HL-LHC era. The document highlights areas where significant development effort, both within and outside of ATLAS, will be required in the years before the HL-LHC starts to operate.
