Construction work at FS
Construction works in building 25F required us to remove our holdings from room 257 during that time.
To keep all items accessible at all times, these items are shelved at the central library stacks. To access titles marked as HH FS without too much delays, please request them from the holdings tab. They will be prepared for you to pick up at the library desk. (Central library, building 1d) Of course we will also fetch them if you just step by. Please use the central library also if you want to return books.

Unusually Special Relativity
World Scientific Europe Ltd 204 pp. ()  GO
Iconoclastic physics professor and artist Andrzej Dragan presents a unique feast of knowledge on special relativity in a straightforward, progressive manner that even a savvy high school student could follow. Encompassing the derivation of Lorentz transformations to Wigner rotations and Thomas precession; from non-inertial accelerated reference frames to event horizons, curved spacetime, and static black holes; and from the Doppler effect to relativistic structure of electromagnetism, Dragan peels back the enigmatic layers of modern physics to enable a deeper understanding of Einstein's groundbreaking theory.Comprehensive and elegantly written, full of insightful apparent paradoxes and riddles, but without any complicated math, Dragan's unique overview takes the reader well beyond the orthodox verses of standard Special Relativity to the bleeding edge of 'new-fangled' superluminal apocrypha and their relation to Quantum Theory. World of Patterns: A Global History of Knowledge
Johns Hopkins University Press 400 pp. ()  GO
A comprehensive account of the methods of knowledge production throughout human history and across the globe. The idea that the world can be understood through patterns and the principles that govern them is one of the most important human insights-it may also be our greatest survival strategy. Our search for patterns and principles began 40,000 years ago, when striped patterns were engraved on mammoths' bones to keep track of the moon's phases. [...]

Quantum Computing For The Brain
World Scientific Europe Ltd, Between Science and Economics 3 552 pp. ()  GO
Quantum Computing for the Brain argues that the brain is the killer application for quantum computing. No other system is as complex, as multidimensional in time and space, as dynamic, as less well-understood, as of peak interest, and as in need of three-dimensional modeling as it functions in real-life, as the brain.Quantum computing has emerged as a platform suited to contemporary data processing needs, surpassing classical computing and supercomputing. Understanding Gravity: The Generation Model Approach: The Generation Model Approach
World Scientific Publishing Co Pte Ltd 180 pp. ()  GO
Currently, the General Theory of Relativity (GTR) describes the physics of the very large in terms of classical physics, while quantum theory describes the physics of the very small in terms of the Standard Model of particle physics. Unfortunately, the two theories are incompatible and do not describe satisfactorily all the forces between the various particles comprising ordinary matter. [...]
