Exact tunneling solutions in multi-field potentials
[DESY-23-223; arXiv:2312.12360]
The tunneling potential formalism makes it easy to construct exact solutions to the vacuumdecay problem in potentials with multiple fields. While some exact solutions for single-fielddecays were known, we present the first nontrivial analytic examples with two and three scalarfields, and show how the method can be generalized to include gravitational corrections. [...]

Discriminating Majorana and Dirac heavy neutrinos at lepton colliders
[DESY-23-210; arXiv:2312.05223]
In this paper we investigate how well the nature of heavy neutral leptons can be determined at a future lepton collider, after its potential discovery. Considered in a simplified model are prompt decays of the neutrino in the mass range from 100 GeV to 10 TeV. [...]

Stochastic ultralight dark matter fluctuations in pulsar timing arrays
[DESY-23-192; arXiv:2312.12225]
Metric perturbations induced by ultralight dark matter (ULDM) fields have long been identified as a potential target for pulsar timing array (PTA) observations. Previous works have focused on the coherent oscillation of metric perturbations at the characteristic frequency set by the ULDM mass. [...]

Precision Top Mass Measurement Using Energy Correlators
[DESY-23-189; arXiv:2311.14389]
2023 European Physical Society Conference on High Energy Physics, EPS-HEP2023, HamburgHamburg, Germany, 21 Aug 2023 - 25 Aug 20232023-08-212023-08-25 Proceedings of Science / International School for Advanced Studies (EPS-HEP2023), 312 () [10.22323/1.449.0312]  GO
Precision top mass measurements at hadron colliders have been notoriously difficult. The fundamental challenge in the current approaches lies in achieving simultaneously high top mass sensitivity and good theoretical control. [...]

Early vs late string networks from a minimal QCD Axion
[DESY-23-187; arXiv:2311.09315]
We propose a new regime of minimal QCD axion dark matter that lies between the pre- and post-inflationary scenarios, such that the Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry is restored only on sufficiently large spatial scales. This leads to a novel cosmological evolution, in which strings and domain walls re-enter the horizon and annihilate later than in the ordinary post-inflationary regime, possibly even after the QCD crossover. [...]

Dark radiation from the primordial thermal bath in momentum space
[DESY-23-177; arXiv:2311.04974]
Motivated by the stunning projections for future CMB surveys, we evaluate the amount of dark radiation produced in the early Universe by two-body decays or binary scatterings with thermal bath particles via a rigorous analysis in momentum space. We track the evolution of the dark radiation phase space distribution, and we use the asymptotic solution to evaluate the amount of additional relativistic energy density parameterized in terms of an effective number of additional neutrino species $\Delta N_{\rm eff}$. Forward neutrinos from charm at the Large Hadron Collider
[DESY-23-067; arXiv:2306.01578]
The currently operating FASER experiment and the planned Forward Physics Facility (FPF) will detect a large number of neutrinos produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. In this work, we estimate neutrino fluxes at these detectors from charm meson decays, which will be particularly important for the $ν_e$ and $ν_τ$ channels. [...]

Monomial warm inflation revisited
[DESY-23-046; IFT UAM-CSIC 23-37; arXiv:2304.05978]
We revisit the idea that the inflaton may have dissipated part of its energy into athermal bath during inflation, considering monomial inflationary potentials and three differentforms of dissipation rate. Using a numerical Fokker-Planck approach to describe the stochasticdynamics of inflationary fluctuations, we confront this scenario with current bounds on thespectrum of curvature fluctuations and primordial gravitational waves. Workshop on Feebly-Interacting Particles, FIPs 2022, CERNCERN, Switzerland, 17 Oct 2022 - 21 Oct 20222022-10-172022-10-21 The European physical journal / C 83(12), 1122 () [10.1140/epjc/s10052-023-12168-5]  GO
Particle physics today faces the challenge of explaining the mystery of dark matter, the origin of matter over anti-matter in the Universe, the origin of the neutrino masses, the apparent fine-tuning of the electro-weak scale, and many other aspects of fundamental physics. Perhaps the most striking frontier to emerge in the search for answers involves new physics at mass scales comparable to familiar matter, below the GeV-scale, or even radically below, down to sub-eV scales, and with very feeble interaction strength. Impact of Inclusive Electron Ion Collider Data on Collinear Parton Distributions
[DESY-23-136; arXiv:2309.11269]
A study is presented of the impact of simulated inclusive Electron Ion Collider Deep Inelastic Scattering data on the determination of the proton and nuclear parton distribution functions (PDFs) at next-to-next-to-leading and next-to-leading order in QCD, respectively. The influence on the proton PDFs is evaluated relative to the HERAPDF2.0 set, which uses inclusive HERA data only, and also relative to the global fitting approach of the MSHT20 PDFs. [...]
