000472793 680__ $$aULTRASAT is an astronomical satellite mission whose wide-angle telescope will perform a deep time-resolved all-sky survey in the near-ultraviolet (NUV). The satellite shall be in orbit by the end of 2024 and will then take data for three years. The main science objectives of ULTRASAT are the detection of counterparts to gravitational wave sources and of supernovae. The mission is led by the Weizmann Institute of Science. DESY joined the ULTRASAT mission in 2019 and will provide the Focal Plane Array (FPA). The core of the FPA is a NUV camera, based on a back side-illuminated CMOS sensor (100 Mpixels, 9x9 cm^2, > 60% QE). DESY scientist will be part of the scientific team that analyses the ULTRASAT data.
