Battery Imaging Library: Multi-length scale and multi-modal synchrotron and laboratory battery imaging data for all
Battery research increasingly relies on advanced imaging, yet open access to such data remains rare, scattered across various sources, and difficult to find. The Battery Imaging Library (BIL) is the first open, curated collection of multi-modal and multi-length scale battery imaging datasets, accompanied by a searchable, FAIR-compliant website. [...]

Far-and mid-infrared spectroscopy of transiently chiral twistacenes: triphenylanthracene and hexaphenylanthracene
We present experimental gas-phase infrared spectra of two transiently chiral polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, triphenylanthracene and hexaphenylanthracene, in a wide spectral range, to characterize the substitution- and strain-induced changes in vibrational modes of anthracene. The spectra were collected using ion-dip spectroscopy at the free-electron laser FELIX. [...]

PITZ Facility after the Upgrade: High Brightness Beams for Photo Injector R&D and feeding THz and Radiation Biology Experimental Stations
17th International Particle Accelerator Conference, IPAC26, DeauvilleDeauville, France, 17 May 2026 - 22 May 20262026-05-172026-05-22 3614 - 3617 () [10.18429/JACoW-IPAC2026-THP2087]  GO
At the Photo Injector Test facility at DESY in Zeuthen (PITZ) 22 MeV, high brightness electron beams are generated to serve mainly as a test facility for the European XFEL. Low emittance beams with bunch charges of less than a pC up to several nC are generated in an L-band photogun, which can provide bunch trains (4.5 MHz bunch repetition rate) of up to 1 ms in length at 10 Hz repetition rate. Impact of electron-beam energy spread on the generation of high harmonics in seeded free-electron lasers
In seeded free-electron lasers (FELs), harmonic up-conversion of an external seed laser can be used to generate coherent emission at short wavelengths. The harmonic generation process is sensitive to the electron beam slice energy spread, which limits the highest harmonic conversion factor. [...]

Dichroic electron emission patterns from oriented helium ions
Physical review / A 113(4), 043110 () [10.1103/3z51-5g8k]  GO
We report a joint experimental and theoretical study using a combination of polarization-controlled free-electron-laser (FEL) and near-infrared (NIR) pulses in a synchronized two-color photoionization scheme. Excited He+ions, created by extreme ultraviolet (XUV) circularly polarized radiation from the XUV-FEL FERMI in the oriented 3⁢𝑝⁡(𝑚=+1)state, are exposed to circularly polarized 784-nm NIR radiation with peak intensities from 1012to 1013W/cm2. Clay-based 3D printing has emerged as a low-carbon alternative to cementitious additive manufacturing in construction. However, pore space, inhomogeneities, shrinkage, and crack formation in clay-sand-water mixtures are still poorly understood, particularly with respect to their influence on the structural integrity of clay-printed elements. Beyond Hydrogen Bonding: π···π Stacking Directed Self‐Assembly of Carboxylic Acid Clusters in the Gas Phase
Carboxylic acids critically influence atmospheric chemistry by modulating acidity, new particle formation, and aerosol growth. The hydrogen-bonding capability of the −COOH group drives the assembly of structurally diverse gas-phase clusters with atmospheric species. [...]

The inner-shell ionization and fragmentation of selenophene at 120 eV
The inner-shell ionization of selenophene at 120 eV produces a rich array of fragmentation dynamics, including many originating from Auger-Meitner processes. In this report, three-dimensional velocity-map imaging and covariance analysis were used to identify and characterize over 50 distinct selenophene fragmentation channels. [...]
