Investigation of a focal plane array for a spaceborne wide-field Schmidt telescope
139 pages: Illustrations, figures (2025)2025 = Dissertation, Technisches Universität Berlin, 2025
The Ultraviolet Transient Astronomy Satellite (ULTRASAT) is a scientific UV space mission that will operate in geostationary orbit (GEO) in 2028. Its Schmidt telescope provides an unprecedented field of view (FoV) of 204 deg2, captured by a focal plane array (FPA) with a total sensitive area of ≈ 90mm x 90mm, comprising four backside-illuminated (BSI) complementary metal oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) image sensors. Sub-2-Cycle Fourier Limited Pulses from all Dielectric Double-Stage Multi-Pass Cell
20252025 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), Long Beach, CaliforniaLong Beach, California, USA, 4 May 2025 - 9 May 20252025-05-042025-05-09
1 pp. (2025)2025
We demonstrate spectral broadening of 1 mJ, 950 fs pulses to a 5.6-fs transform limit using a two-stage multi-pass cell. The output consists of 0.6 mJ pulses, with over 500 nm bandwidth, at 100 kHz, delivered in bursts at 10Hz, centered at 1030 nm, with excellent spatial beam quality and stability maintained for over an hour..

Temporal Properties of Compressible Magnetohydrodynamic Turbulence
Describing the temporal properties of compressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence is a fundamental problem that has important implications for particle acceleration and transport in astrophysical plasmas. Here, by carefully analyzing the spatial and temporal properties of compressible MHD turbulence, we derive a new spectral power density function that is supported by simulations. [...]
