Anisotropic Semicrystalline Homopolymer Dielectrics for High‐Temperature Capacitive Energy Storage
Angewandte Chemie 136(24), e202319766 () [10.1002/ange.202319766]  GO
High-temperature dielectric polymers are in high demand for powering applications in extreme environments. Here, we have developed high-temperature homopolymer dielectrics with anisotropy by leveraging the hierarchical structure in semicrystalline polymers [...]

Variational quantum eigensolver approach to prime factorization on IBM's noisy intermediate scale quantum computer
[arXiv:2410.01935]
 GO
This paper presents a hybrid quantum-classical approach to prime factorization. The proposed algorithm is based on the variational quantum eigensolver (VQE), which employs a classical optimizer to find the ground state of a given Hamiltonian. [...]

Flow-Based Sampling for Entanglement Entropy and the Machine Learning of Defects
[arXiv:2410.14466]
We introduce a novel technique to numerically calculate Rényi entanglement entropies in lattice quantum field theory using generative models. We describe how flow-based approaches can be combined with the replica trick using a custom neural-network architecture around a lattice defect connecting two replicas. [...]

Repurposing of the Run 2 CMS High Level Trigger Infrastructure as a Cloud Resource for Offline Computing
[arXiv:2405.14639]
 GO
The former CMS Run 2 High Level Trigger (HLT) farm is one of the largest contributors to CMS compute resources, providing about 25k job slots for offline computing. This CPU farm was initially employed as an opportunistic resource, exploited during inter-fill periods, in the LHC Run 2. [...]

Bayesian Deep-stacking for High-energy Neutrino Searches
[arXiv:2502.01452]
Following the discovery of the brightest high-energy neutrino sources in the sky, the further detection of fainter sources is more challenging. A natural solution is to combine fainter source candidates, and instead of individual detections, aim to identify and learn about the properties of a larger population. [...]

Measurement of the dineutrino system kinematic variables in dileptonic top quark pair production in proton-proton collisions at$\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV
[CERN-EP-2025-201; CMS-TOP-24-001; arXiv:2510.00160]
Differential top quark pair production cross sections are measured in the dilepton final states e$^+$e$^-$, $μ^+μ^-$, and e$^\pmμ^\mp$, as a function of kinematic variables of the two-neutrino system: the transverse momentum $p_\mathrm{T}^{νν}$ of the dineutrino system, the minimum distance in azimuthal angle between $\vec{p}_\mathrm{T}^{\,νν}$ and leptons, and in two dimensions in bins of both observables. The measurements are performed using CERN LHC proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV, recorded by the CMS detector between 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb$^{-1}$. Simultaneous probe of the charm and bottom quark Yukawa couplings using ttH events
[CERN-EP-2025-202; CMS-HIG-24-018; arXiv:2509.22535]
A search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to a charm quark-antiquark pair, H $\to$$\mathrm{c\bar{c}}$, produced in association with a top quark-antiquark pair ($\mathrm{t\bar{t}}$H) is presented. The search is performed with data from proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb$^{-1}$. [...]

The promise of deep-stacking for neutrino astronomy
[arXiv:2501.10213]
 GO
The detection of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos by IceCube has opened new windows for neutrino astronomy, but their sources remains largely unresolved. We study a methodology to address this — deep-stacking — that exploits correlations between observed neutrinos and comprehensive catalogs of potential source populations, including faint, high-redshift sources. [...]

HfNbTaTiAl refractory multi-principal element alloy with excellent tensile properties at room temperature
A novel Hf$_{30.3}$Nb$_{10}$Ta$_{20.3}$Ti$_{30.3}$Al$_{9.0}$ refractory multi-principal element alloy (RMPEA) was designed with short-time annealing to achieve excellent combination of strength and ductility, surpassing most of the previouslyreported RMPEAs. The curved non-screw dislocations serve as the main plastic deformation mechanism, whilethe microband induced plasticity effect contributes to the sustained strain-hardening ability..

The insect head rewound: Clarifications to the groundplan of Hexapoda (Pancrustacea)
The organization of the hexapod head remains a cornerstone problem in arthropod systematics, central to segmental homology, character definition, higher-level phylogeny, and functional and evolutionary morphology. Recently, Nel et al [...]
