Malaria parasite HOPS/CORVET complexes are critical for endocytosis and invasion organelles function
The tethering complexes HOPS/CORVET are central for vesicular fusion through the eukaryotic endolysosomal system, but the functions of these complexes in the intracellular development of malaria parasites are unknown. Here we show that early inactivation of core HOPS/CORVET complex subunits in Plasmodium falciparum leads to developmental arrest and accumulation of cytosolic vesicles, indicating a role of HOPS/CORVET in parasite endocytosis and fusion of endosomes to the digestive vacuole membrane [...]

Nuclear pores as conduits for fluid flow during osmotic stress
Changing environmental conditions necessitate an immediate cellular adaptation to ensure survival. Dictyostelium discoideum, a bacteriovore slime mold present in the soil of most terrestrial ecosystems, is known for its ability to tolerate drastic changes in osmolarity [...]

Measurement of the branching fraction and $\it CP$-violating asymmetry of the decay $B^{0} \rightarrow \pi^{0} \pi^{0}$ using $387$ million bottom-antibottom meson pairs in Belle II data
[Belle II Preprint 2024-032; KEK Preprint 2024-34; arXiv:2412.14260]
We measure the branching fraction and $\it CP$-violating flavor-dependent rate asymmetry of $B^{0} \to \pi^{0} \pi^{0}$ decays reconstructed using the Belle II detector in an electron-positron collision sample containing $387 \times 10^{6}$$B\overline{B}$ pairs. Using an optimized event selection, we find $126\pm 20$ signal decays in a fit to background-discriminating and flavor-sensitive distributions. [...]

Comparing Recent Pulsar Timing Array Results on the Nanohertz Stochastic Gravitational-wave Background
[arXiv:2309.00693]
 GO
The Australian, Chinese, European, Indian, and North American pulsar timing array (PTA) collaborations recently reported, at varying levels, evidence for the presence of a nanohertz gravitational-wave background (GWB). Given that each PTA made different choices in modeling their data, we perform a comparison of the GWB and individual pulsar noise parameters across the results reported from the PTAs that constitute the International Pulsar Timing Array (IPTA). [...]

electronCT - an imaging technique using very-high energy electrons
[arXiv:2409.20091]
The electronCT technique is an imaging method based on the multiple Coulomb scattering of relativistic electrons and has potential applications in medical and industrial imaging. It utilizes a pencil beam of electrons in the very high energy electron (VHEE, 50–250 MeV) range and a single detection layer for the determination of the beam profile. [...]

Running of the top quark mass at NNLO in QCD
[MPP-2022-110; arXiv:2208.11399]
The running of the top quark mass (m$_{t}$) is probed at the next-to-next-to-leading order in quantum chromodynamics for the first time. The result is obtained by comparing calculations in the modified minimal subtraction ($\overline{{\text{MS}} }$) renormalisation scheme to the CMS result on differential measurement of the top quark-antiquark (${\text{t}}\overline{{\text{t}} }$) production cross section at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV. Compatibility and combination of world W-boson mass measurements
[DESY-23-124; arXiv:2308.09417]
The compatibility of W-boson mass measurements performed by the ATLAS, LHCb, CDF, and D0 experiments is studied using a coherent framework with theory uncertainty correlations. The measurements are combined using a number of recent sets of parton distribution functions (PDF), and are further combined with the average value of measurements from the Large Electron–Positron collider. LHC EFT WG Note: SMEFT predictions, event reweighting, and simulation
[CERN-LHCEFTWG-2024-001; CERN-LPCC-2024-001; arXiv:2406.14620]
This note gives an overview of the tools for predicting expectations in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) at the tree level and one loop available through event generators. Methods of event reweighting, the separate simulation of squared matrix elements, and the simulation of the full SMEFT process are compared in terms of statistical efficacy and potential biases..

A framework for simultaneous fit of QCD and BSM parameters with xFitter
[DESY-24-119; arXiv:2407.16061]
An extension of the xFitter open-source program for QCD analyses is presented, allowing for a polynomial parameterization of the dependence of physical observables on theoretical parameters. This extension enables simultaneous determination of parton distribution functions (PDFs) and new physics parameters within the framework of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). [...]

Status of QCD precision predictions for Drell-Yan processes
[CERN-TH-2024-068; DESY 24-073; MPP-2024-106; ZU-TH 26/24; arXiv:2405.19714]
We compute differential distributions for Drell-Yan processes at the LHC and the Tevatron colliders at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD, including fiducial cuts on the decay leptons in the final state. The comparison of predictions obtained with four different codes shows excellent agreement, once linear power corrections from the fiducial cuts are included in those codes that rely on phase-space slicing subtraction schemes.
