On a specific state of C$_{60}$ fullerene in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone solution: Mass spectrometric study
A solution of fullerene C$_{60}$ in N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) presents a suitable system for obtaining fullerene's clusters with the tunable size. However, the mechanism of fullerenes interaction with polar NMP molecules is still elusive. [...]

Biomimetic hard and tough nanoceramic Ti–Al–N film with self-assembled six-level hierarchy
Nanoscale 11, 7986 - 7995 () [10.1039/C8NR10339A]  GO
Nature uses self-assembly of a fairly limited selection of components to build hard and tough protective tissues like nacre and enamel. The resulting hierarchical micro/nanostructures provide decisive toughening mechanisms while preserving strength. [...]

The Role of Zn Additions on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Mg–Nd–Zn Alloys
Mg-rare earth alloys have improved yield strength and creep resistance compared to commercial alloys such as AZ91, AM60 or AS21. The influence of Zn additions in Mg–Nd alloys on intermetallic phases and the resulting changes in the macroscopic mechanical behaviour of the materials are not yet fully understood. [...]

The Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany, is operating the user experiments for microtomography at the beamlines P05 and P07 using synchrotron radiation produced in the storage ring PETRA III at DESY, Hamburg, Germany. In recent years the software pipeline and sample changing hardware for performing high throughput experiments were developed. [...]

Orientation-dependent deformation micro-mechanism and failure analysis of SS 316 under tensile and cyclic load
In the present investigation, the effect of crystallographic texture on deformation and failure mechanism of austenitic stainless steel 316 (SS 316) during monotonic tension and stress control cyclic (also known as fatigue) deformation has been correlated with the statistical aspect of microstructural defects structure and deformation microstructure. The monotonic tension and fatigue behavior for 0 and 45-deg orientation of the loading axis with respect to the rolling direction of hot rolled and annealed SS 316 sheet has been determined at room temperature using a servo-hydraulic universal testing machine. [...]

In Situ Study Of Aging Under Stress Of Ni-Ti Shape Memory Alloy
SMST - Shape Memory and Superelasticity - 2019, SMST - 2019, KonstanzKonstanz, Germany, 13 May 2019 - 17 May 20192019-05-132019-05-17 ASM 2 pp. () [10.3204/PUBDB-2019-01782]  GO
Thermomechanical processing of NiTi SMA are required, not only to shape them to a most adequate geometry, but also to obtain the best combination of their functional and mechanical characteristics in view of their final applica-tion. For NiTi SMA, the hot deformation and the combined solubilization / precipitation phenomena affect the functional behavior [1,2]. [...]
