Evidence for pressure-induced polarization rotation, octahedral tilting, and reentrant ferroelectric phase in tetragonal $\mathrm{(Pb_{0.5}Bi_{0.5})(Ti_{0.5}Fe_{0.5})O_{3}}$
Pressure-induced phase transition in the technologically important tetragonal phase of PbTiO$_3$ has been quite controversial with two entirely different propositions: (1) morphotropic phase boundary-like structural transition with concomitant rotation of the ferroelectric polarization vector and (2) antiferrodistortive (AFD) phase transition followed by emergence of a reentrant ferroelectric phase. The equation of state of TaC$_{0.99}$ by X-ray diffraction in radial scattering geometry to 32 GPa and 1073 K
We have performed in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction experiments on TaC$_{0.99}$ compressed in a diamond anvil cell along 3 isothermal pathsto maximum pressure (P)-temperature (T) conditions of 38.8 GPa at 1073 K. By combining measurements performed in axial diffractiongeometry at 296 K and in radial geometry at 673 K and 1073 K, we place constraints on the pressure-volume-temperature (P-V-T) equation ofstate of TaC in a wide range of conditions. High-pressure nuclear inelastic scattering with backscattering monochromatization
The capability to perform high-pressure low-temperature nuclear inelastic scattering on $^{125}$Te and $^{121}$Sb with a sapphire backscattering monochromator is presented. Pressure-induced structural dimerization in the hyperhoneycomb iridate $β−Li_{2}IrO_{3}$ at low temperatures
A pressure-induced collapse of magnetic ordering in $β−Li_{2}IrO_3$ at $P_m ∼ 1.5–2$ GPa has previously been interpreted as evidence for possible emergence of spin liquid states in this hyperhoneycomb iridate, raising prospects for experimental realizations of the Kitaev model.
